Today marks eight years since the Manchester Arena attack – a moment in time that changed lives forever and left an indelible mark on the heart of our nation. On the evening of 22 May 2017, 22 innocent souls were tragically taken, many of them children and young people who had simply gone to enjoy a concert. Countless others were injured, traumatised, and left to rebuild their lives in the wake of unimaginable loss.
While our daily work centres on the grief that comes with saying goodbye to beloved animal companions, we understand deeply that grief knows no boundaries. Love is love, and loss is loss – whether it’s a pet, a family member, a friend, or a community shaken by tragedy.
Each year, on this date, we pause to remember those who were lost, those who survived, and the bravery shown by first responders and members of the public. The strength of the Manchester community – and indeed of the UK as a whole – in the face of such sorrow has been nothing short of remarkable.
As a dedicated husband and wife team who works closely with families during moments of heartbreak, we know that anniversaries like this can stir powerful emotions. They remind us of all we’ve lost – but they can also remind us of all we’ve held onto: compassion, unity, and hope.
Today, we remember the 22 victims who tragically lost their lives. Each name represents a life taken far too soon, and a family forever changed:
